Senior Advisor Technical Services (Chief Engineer)
MNZ Systems Auditor (Auditor, Senior Auditor or Principal Auditor)
As part of a review of one of our business units, we have established a new position to provide technical expertise across the organisation, and in particular to our Certification and Registration team. You will provide advice and assistance, build capability and support the development of standard operating procedures in the areas of licensing applications, rules amendments, major projects and syllabus materials. This is an opportunity for you to bring your comprehensive engineering expertise into a role where you can add value to the organisation’s analysis and decision making processes.
We are seeking candidates holding a Marine Engineer Class 1, foreign going unlimited qualification. You must have knowledge of the maritime industry as applicable to New Zealand and be legally able to work in this country. You will need sound written communication skills and the ability to analyse and solve problems. Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work with a range of people are key criteria for selection.

As an Auditor with Maritime New Zealand, you will help to promote our concept of a positive maritime safety culture. This is achieved primarily through our audit programme and by providing guidance on improvements to the maritime industry to ensure that safety and environmental management systems meet required standards. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the upcoming audit framework for the new Maritime Operator Safety System (MOSS).
To successfully carry out the responsibilities of this unique position, you will need previous audit experience together with a proven record of success in developing, implementing and improving maritime management systems. A formal auditing and/or nautical qualification is required and previous experience in the offshore sector or seagoing experience is desirable.
Although this role is based in Wellington, you will be required to regularly travel throughout the country.
