Guidance notices

Guidance notices provide supporting information on specific technical issues or areas. Generally these notices do not cover technical issues that have already been covered by an existing advisory circular.

The information provided is not usually urgent or time critical but is intended to clarify an issue or technical problem.

Each guidance notice is written for a relevant group that will benefit from the information; including:

  • owners, operators, skippers and crew of commercial vessels and jet boats
  • ship surveyors
  • safety auditors
  • safe ship management companies
  • maritime safety inspectors
  • others involved with commercially operated ships in New Zealand including port companies, harbourmasters, stevedoring companies and manufacturers.
