Maritime Rules Part 25: Nautical Chart & Publications

Part 25 sets out requirement for the carriage of charts, tide tables, and other nautical information.

This Part implements New Zealand's obligations under Chapter V, Regulation 20 (Nautical Publications), and Regulation 21 International Code of Signals), of SOLAS 74.

Part 25 of the maritime rules applies to:

  • commercial vessels of over 12 metres in length, commercial vessels that operate outside the enclosed limit, and foreign vessels in New Zealand waters.

However, it does not apply to vessels that operate only on a river away from tidal influences, and commercial fishing vessels that are 6 metres or less in length overall that operate within two miles of the coast.

History of Part 25

Part 25 came into force on 1st February 2001.

This part was first amended by Maritime Rules Part 20-90 in 2004.

This part was most recently amended by Maritime (Various Amendments) Rules Part 20-91 in 2008.
