Maritime Rules Part 35: Training and Examinations

Part 35 is divided into two sections.

Section 1 outlines the requirements for the approval of training providers offering courses leading to the qualification of ships' personnel, and the audit requirements of the quality system to be established by such training providers. It also outlines the procedure and requirements for persons wishing to become a recognised examiner.

Section 2 permits for certain restricted limit ships for which there are particular operating risks, industry-specific training leading to the issue of certificates of competency by organisations representative of owners operating such ships.

Part 35 came into force on 22nd October 1999.

This part was amended by Maritime Rules Parts 20-90 in 2004.
