Safe Operational Plans for Jet Boats

Jet boats that carry passengers at planing speed, on any river, for hire or reward (Maritime Rule Part 80) are required to have a Safe Operating Plan (SOP).

To get a SOP, contact the Maritime New Zealand Jet boat Safety Auditor (see list below) who will work with you to inspect, audit and approve your operation.

Note for Queenstown operators
Jet boating operations in the Queenstown Lakes District Council must be audited by the Authorised Person who is recognised by the Director of Maritime New Zealand. This situation is being reviewed by the Director and the Queenstown Lakes District Council.
