Maritime Security Overview

The Maritime Security (MS) Act 2004 and its associated regulations reflect the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code in the New Zealand context.  The MS Act makes Maritime NZ responsible for ensuring that the provisions of the ISPS are complied with by international trading ports in NZ, and by commercial freight and passenger vessels visiting the country.

See below for details of the MS Act, Maritime NZ's role in overseeing the MS Act's implementation, and requirements for ports and vessels in NZ jurisdiction.
