Maritime New Zealand has recently introduced a range of other investigation improvements to enhance overall safety. These changes include:
- A new tiered investigation response – so that, depending on the accident, the investigation could be very simple or alternatively more detailed, as appropriate to the circumstances.
- The enhanced use of safety audits which can be carried out separately to accident investigations, to allow safety improvements to be more quickly implemented.
- A new prompt feedback process, so all interested Maritime NZ customers receive safety information more quickly, helping to prevent incidents reoccurring.
