A helicopter was airborne and a yacht heading to the rescue of a family fishing group in a runabout in trouble on the Firth of Thames this morning – but the group was actually arriving safely back at the boat ramp.

Fines imposed after charter boat damaged by high seas
Fines totalling more than $16,000 have been imposed after the dolphin-watching charter vessel Dreamweaver was hit and damaged by heavy seas on Auckland Harbour in February 2014 and more than 30 passengers had to be transferred to rescue boats.
