Search underway for missing yacht

  24 June 2005

A RNZAF Orion aircraft left Whenuapai at around 6am this morning to search for two crewmen aboard Bluenose, a yacht overdue from an Auckland to Tonga voyage.

Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand sent the Orion to the search area after concerns were raised by the crew’s family.

The yacht left Auckland on 05 June and has not arrived in Nuku'alofa as scheduled.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bluenose is asked to call Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand on 0508 472 269.

No further details are currently available but an update will be sent should new information arrive.
