Search continues for missing yacht

  24 June 2005

Despite a thorough search RNZAF Orion aircraft have failed to find any sign of the missing yacht Bluenose or her two crewmen.

Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) sent an Orion to the area at 6am this morning and a second Orion on a training flight from Fiji later joined the search.

Members of the crew’s family raised concerns after the 8.5 metre sloop failed to arrive in Nuku'alofa having left Auckland on 05 June.

Both the Orions will continue searching until around 3pm this afternoon when they will have to return to Whenuapai.

RCCNZ will then liaise with RNZAF to determine the next course of action.
