MNZ has begun a formal investigation into this incident because the spill is likely to have occurred outside the limits governed by regional councils, which is 12 nautical miles.”
MNZ General Manager Marine Pollution Response service, Nick Quinn said every investigation is different and there is a lot of evidence to gather. At this time MNZ cannot indicate how long the investigation might take.” said Mr Quinn.
