	Approved education providers
	While Maritime New Zealand is notified of course starting dates, changes do occur. Sometimes courses are cancelled due to low numbers, or extra courses are put on to cope with a rush of applicants. We advise you to contact the most convenient training provider for your purposes to get up-to-date information. A list of training providers is given below with the courses each is approved to run. Please note that while there is no statutory requirement for you to attend a course if you want the Local Launch Operator (LLO) or the Marine Engineer Class 6 (MEC6) , many courses for these qualifications are available. We recommend you attend one if you are at all unsure whether or not you have the knowledge required.
