Searching the Register

  To search the Register you must know

  • the ship's name
        OR
  • the ship's official/registration number

  • Ships registered in Part A have an official number which is usually a six digit number, e.g. 123456.

    Ships registered in Part B have a registration number which is always "NZ" followed by a number, e.g. NZ123.

    There are four ways to obtain details of a particular ship:

  • You may call the Registrar who will give you verbal information about the ship at no cost;

  • You may inspect the ship's Register entry during normal business hours. The cost is $23;

  • A certified transcript of the ship's Register entry (including ownership and any mortgages)
        can be issued upon payment of $61;

  • A computer printout of the ship's Register entries (including ownership and any     mortgages) can be issued upon payment of $43. The Registrar does not certify printouts
        as being correct.

  • To check the availability of a ship's name go to the Ships' Names Search page.
