Our international involvements

Boat for Kiribati Police

A joint-agency programme aimed at improving maritime safety in the Pacific provided a purpose-built response boat for the Kiribati Police Maritime Unit in November.

Oil slick

MNZ was asked to assist the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) in responding to an offshore blowout at the Montara well platform in the Timor Sea. A fire eventually broke out on the platform.

Satellite station

The new site, part of a joint project with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), will speed up rescues for people setting off distress beacons. It utilises a new generation of satellites.

Oil from Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico

Members of MPRS were part of the international team that responded to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which threatened the South-Eastern coastline of North America.
