Upstream health and safety duties under HSWA

We are developing guidance for persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) who supply services or products to others (that is, are upstream from others) in a supply chain. We are asking for feedback on the draft guidance we have developed. Consultation closes at 5 pm on 7 October.

Overview

In a supply chain, persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) who supply services or products to others (that is, are upstream from others) have a duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the work they do or the products they provide to others do not create health and safety risks.

This guidance explains situations where you have upstream duties and provides examples that can help you carry out those duties.
