Extensive search for kayaker

11 February 2007, 9:00pm

Despite an extensive three day search covering over 6,000 square nautical miles, involving both aircraft and vessels there have been no sightings of missing trans-Tasman kayaker Andrew McAuley.

“The aircraft have been stood down for the night. We will be assessing the situation and reviewing information through the night with a view to determining the next step tomorrow morning,” said Rescue Coordination Centre NZ (RCCNZ) Mission Controller Mike Roberts. “Our thoughts are with the family of Andrew at this difficult time,” said Mr Roberts.
