Seafarer licensing goes digital with early positive feedback

We launched our new digital seafarer licensing form in April, and early feedback from the sector has been positive.

The form offers a simpler way to apply. It guides people step by step through what they need to provide and clearly shows what documents are required. Applicants are now receiving automatic status updates and can also track their application through the online status checker, making the process more transparent. 

The new digital process is also improving efficiency. Applications are moving through the system faster than before, while still maintaining the right level of checks. 

Early industry feedback has been encouraging with one user describing the new system as easy to use and welcoming the quicker turnaround times. 

The digital form is currently available for initial applications and renewals for Part 32 certificates and endorsements, as well as ship’s cook letters. More certificate types will be added in future phases.
