Amendment
This Part was amended by Maritime Rules Various Amendments 2014, in 2015.
Part 73 provides for the standardised recording on board a ship of routine and emergency operational information and significant, generally untoward events affecting the ship and its safety, and the safety and well-being of those on board.
The rules in Part 73 give effect to the various recording requirements under SOLAS 74, and provide verification of compliance with the submersion requirements of the International Convention on Load Lines 1966.
MARPOL 73/78 requires that exercises of shipboard oil pollution emergency plans are recorded, and provision is also made for this.
