Part B Ship Registration
Part B registration is mainly for recreational vessels that need nationality for overseas voyaging.
About registration under Part B of the New Zealand Register of Ships
The benefits of Part B registration are that it:
- gives a ship New Zealand nationality when it goes on overseas voyages
- protects a ship’s name for as long as it is registered
- lasts for 5 years and can be renewed if none of the details have changed.
International Voyage Certificate
Anyone intending to take their recreational vessel overseas must also meet requirements in section 21 of the Maritime Transport Act, which is designed to support the safe passage of boats and their crew when departing for overseas.
