How to register a ship Part B ship registration
What you need to do
To register your ship in Part B in the New Zealand Register of Ships, you must:
- complete the Application for registration of ship (or renewal of registration) in Part B of register (form SR03)
- if the ship has been registered in another country, obtain evidence from the foreign registry that the registration has been closed, for example a deletion certificate
- send your completed application form and evidence of closure of any previous registration (if applicable) to Maritime NZ by email, courier, or post.
When we receive your documents, we will check that your application is complete and formally accept it. We will then:
- send you an invoice with a reference number and instructions explaining how to pay, and
- once we receive your payment, register your ship and send you a certificate of registration by courier.
